The Department of Commerce at Baselius College plays a pivotal role in advancing the institution’s research mission. Academic institutions worldwide recognize that research, alongside education and knowledge dissemination, forms the foundation of higher learning. Reflecting this vision, the Department of Commerce has been actively nurturing a vibrant research culture among its faculty and students. It serves as an approved research centre, promoting scholarly inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based exploration in business, finance, and management. Supported by the Research Advisory Committee, the department continuously engages in research-related activities, identifies funding opportunities, and encourages the pursuit of impactful studies that contribute to both academia and industry. The department produced seven UGC sponsored minor research projects and convened various research workshops that benefitted students as well as teachers and scholars from other colleges and universities.

Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Narayanan K S

Dr. Manoj Narayanan K.S. serves as Professor and Dean of Academics, Head of the Commerce Department, and Director of the Research Centre in the Postgraduate Department of Commerce and Management at Baselius College. A rank holder in Pre-degree, B.Com., and M.Com. examinations, he also holds a postgraduate degree in Business Economics. He has authored 34 books, presented 20 research papers, and published 30 articles. Dr. Narayanan is a member of the Board of Commerce Faculties for various institutions and Mahatma Gandhi University, and has served as convener for the FYUGP Board of Studies. He acts as a subject expert for teacher promotions, course sanctioning, and various colleges, and has held key roles including NAAC Coordinator, IQAC Coordinator, and Exam Superintendent. In June 2022, he received the Dr. M.V. Pylee Excellence Award from the Padma Bhushan Prof. Dr. M.V. Pylee Forum for Higher Education. His specialisations include Finance and Marketing. His H-Index is 3 with 24 citations.

Dr. Resmi Annie Thomas

Dr. Resmi Annie Thomas serves as Assistant Professor of Commerce with specialization in Marketing and Finance at Baselius College. She has successfully completed one UGC-sponsored minor research project. She also holds an M.Ed. degree. She has authored 1 book and 1 book chapter, published approximately 25 papers in National and International journals, and presented papers at various conferences. She is a life member of the Indian Commerce Association and the Indian Accounting Association. In June 2022, she received the Dr. M.V. Pylee Excellence Award from the Padma Bhushan Prof. Dr. M.V. Pylee Forum for Higher Education. She regularly serves as a resource person for various colleges and is a member of expert committees for various colleges. Her H-Index is 1 with 4 citations.
