                                             In 1964, when Baselius College was established, Department of Malayalam also started functioning under the leadership of Prof. K C Mani. The department was upgraded as an undergraduate department in 1982. The Department continues to have a legacy of eminent academicians and prominent alumni. They have shown their expertise in the literary and cultural milieu of Kerala. To enrich the academic pursuit of the students, the department provides a well equipped Reference Library over 4000 books and IT Infrastructure. A dedicated set of mentors makes the students endeavour in the fields of language and literature. Under the auspices of Malayala Samajam, students are given opportunity to interact with the giants in the literary and cultural frontiers. The department provides over a dozen of scholarships to students excel in the academic and co-curricular fields.
