The highest education is that which does not merely give us information, but makes our life in harmony with all existence”. (Rabindranath Tagore). So the task of an educational institution is to mould and nurture individuals in whom both the affective and intellectual domains thrive in a harmonious manner. Along with that it also becomes imperative that such institutions stay inclusive and affirmative where the differences of gender, caste, creed, religion, community and political affiliations are celebrated and can co-exist in a harmonious whole of humanity upholding equity, justice and freedom. Baselius College, Kottayam( Autonomous), established in 1964 in the hallowed name of our Patron Saint His Holiness Baselios Geevarghese II has been synonymous with these ideals ever since its inception. This flagship institution of the Malankara Orthodox Church Colleges, located at the heart of Kottayam town thrive in its ideals of learning, labour and love. Progressive Management, dedicated faculty, supportive PTA and the strong alumni support are the props that defined the trajectory of this institution for the past 62 years.

I hope that the holistic experience of Baselius College would enable the students to move forward in “directions numberless” with commitment, sincerity and vision. I pray that they will be able “to see the world in a grain of sand/And heaven in a wild flower,/Hold infinity in the palm of your hand/And eternity in an hour” ( William Blake) and perceive God in the little lives around. On this momentous year of the conferment of Autonomous Status on the institution, we stand humble yet firm in rededicating ourselves to the ideals of the forefathers that has shaped the ethos of the institution ever steering its destinies to greater heights and glorious tomorrows. I affirm that we are committed to transforming young minds enabling them “ to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield”
