Baselius College was established in Kottayam in memory of His Holiness Baselius Geevarghese II. Dr. A.P. Mani became the first Principal and several foundational departments were started. |

The junior college was upgraded and undergraduate programmes in English, Commerce, Economics, Botany, Mathematics and Zoology were introduced. |
| 1969 |
Department of Chemistry started offering degree programmes. |
| 1976 |
Baselius College Cooperative Society was formed. |
| 1979 |
The college came under the Educational Agency of MOC Colleges and the first All Kerala Intercollegiate Baselius Trophy Tournament was conducted. |

Department of Political Science was established and the Department of Commerce was upgraded to postgraduate level. |
| 1982 |
Prof. E.J. John became Principal and the Department of Malayalam along with Sanskrit was introduced. |

Department of Chemistry was upgraded to a postgraduate department. |

The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee. |

Open-Air Auditorium was constructed. |

English Department was upgraded to a Postgraduate Department. |

Construction of the Silver Jubilee Block was completed. |

Baselius Researcher journal was launched and the new auditorium was inaugurated. |

The college received NAAC accreditation with Three Stars in its first cycle. |

College was re-accredited by NAAC with B++ Grade. |
| 2011 |
The college was conferred Minority Status. |
| 2014 |
Golden Jubilee celebrations were held and the Electronics Department and BBA programme were introduced. |

College was re-accredited with A Grade by NAAC with CGPA 3.11. |
| 2018 |
Golden Jubilee Students’ Amenity Centre was inaugurated and the college became eligible for RUSA funding. |
| 2020 |
The college secured a place in the 150–200 rank band in NIRF Ranking 2020. |
| 2021 |
M.Sc. Data Analytics programme was introduced. |
| 2022 |
The college was re-accredited with A++ Grade by NAAC with CGPA 3.51 in the fourth cycle. |
