Gopika Suresh

My passion for nature is not just an interest; it is the driving force behind my research and long-term goals. I joined my PhD program in March 2023 under the guidance of Dr Krishnaraj M.V., and since then, this journey has been both intellectually enriching and personally transformative.
The major streams of my work are reproductive biology, population ecology, and the conservation of Sanjappa cynometroides, a critically endangered tree legume endemic to the Southern Western Ghats of India. These fields are deeply interconnected and highly relevant. Reproductive success determines a species’ survival in the natural environment. By integrating ecology into my research, I can better understand how environmental factors influence overall population dynamics. This work will provide knowledge of the plant’s current status, which is essential to its management and recovery. Environmental stress often first affects reproductive systems, making this area crucial for understanding population decline and developing effective conservation strategies.
