Department of Malayalam
In 1964, when Baselius College was established, the Department of Malayalam also started functioning under the leadership of Prof. K. C. Mani. The department was upgraded to an undergraduate department in 1982.
The Department continues to have a legacy of eminent academicians and prominent alumni who have showcased their expertise in the literary and cultural milieu of Kerala. To enrich the academic pursuits of the students, the department provides a well-equipped reference library with over 4000 books and IT infrastructure.
A dedicated set of mentors supports students in their endeavors in the fields of language and literature. Under the auspices of Malayala Samajam, students are given opportunities to interact with leading figures in the literary and cultural frontiers. The department also provides over a dozen scholarships to students who excel in academic and co-curricular activities.
