The Department of Chemistry at Baselius College began its journey in 1964 under the eminent leadership of Prof. K. George. In 1969, the department introduced the B.Sc. Chemistry programme, marking a major step in undergraduate science education at the college. It became a Post Graduate Department in 1984 with the commencement of the M.Sc. Pure Chemistry course. The department was further elevated as a Research Centre of Mahatma Gandhi University in 2019. At present, the department offers three academic programmes: B.Sc. Chemistry (Honours), M.Sc. Chemistry, and the Ph.D. Programme. The department has a team of highly qualified faculty, including recognized research guides. With a legacy of academic excellence, the department continues to contribute significantly to chemical education and research.
